How to Identify Stress Indicators in the Hands

What if you knew the source of stress showing up in your life, why it shows up, and what you can do about it?

When a line, or several lines extend across the hand from the inside of the palm just below the start of the Life Line and just above the inset of the Thumb, you’ll find a stress indicator a.k.a. attack line. Severity of stress is determined by a higher quantity of lines, or how deeply they are chiseled.

The hand map below shows a variety of pathways the lines can take.

Figure 1: The colored lines map a variety of ways attack lines can appear.

The etching reflects a repeated pattern of disequilibrium in a particular area of life. These types of lines are common to see in hands. In fact, it is unusual not to find a few of these lines inscribed diagonally across the palm – even in children.

Effective ways to overcome the obstacles can be addressed after pinpointing the length and quality of the impression of the line. In essence, the line becomes a rock solid opportunity-indicator for harnessing the undeniable problematic energy it represents. Specifics about the area of stress are deciphered by detecting where the line(s) ends.

They have been called attack lines because they originate in the area of the palm called Mars. To better understand these stress indicators let’s consider the Roman mythological archetype, Mars. He is known as the god of war always wearing a shield of armor; built to do battle in an instant. When Mars has a particular cause he stands tall, can become aggressive and even rageful. Women like Joan of Arc and Wonder Woman personify this archetype, too.

For example, if you see an attack line stretching across your palm and it ends under your ring finger then you might feel a looming sense of fear of rejection related to something you have created or want to create.

For example, putting yourself out there to make a spaghetti dinner for visiting friends can make you a nervous wreck over the quantity of each ingredient to combine so that it looks and tastes just right. When this fear is present then the, “I’m just sure I’m going to be criticized” radar is triggered. Not receiving applause for the dinner can even feel like an attack. This in turn could launch an immediate defense such as, “I know, if I would have used farm raised ground beef instead, this would be much better.” Keep in mind; none of the guests have yet said a word about the spaghetti dinner!

In this example, the owner can feel an inherent disapproval of his or her individualistic nature. Here is a bellowing call for courage! With the attack line ending under the ring finger, there is a call to feel the fear of the tomato and make the spaghetti anyway. It’s helpful to consider the worst-case scenarios but not to dwell on them, but instead to give them airtime and turn the obstacle into an opportunity for growth. The most important point is to reject the tomato fear and find a way into to your heart-felt creations.

Lines of Courage is another phrase I use for attack lines because there is a call for a change to balance the disequilibrium and change frequently requires courage to do something differently. Courage lines present an opportunity to discover and understand the source of conflict so that it can be harnessed for building a better life. But that takes bravery. The example of making the spaghetti dinner and presenting it to the guests even with paralyzing fear of rejection, takes a heavy dose of daring to put ones self at stake.

By knowing more about the meaning associated with the various end points of the lines in the hands we better understand the warnings, the positive and negative possibilities, and precisely how to use the God-given-glyph to cultivate a plan for growth.

Attack Lines Key Words: Conflict, struggle, aggression, opportunity, courage, determination

Attack Lines Positive: I dare to cultivate courage and protection to grow in this area of life [based on where the line ends]

Attack Lines Negative: My defenses are triggered [in this particular area where the line ends on the palm] and I become aggressive (or passive aggressive) against others and myself.

Mantra: I observe stress and conflict in particular areas and I stand strong in my courage for what is important to me. I harness this energy effectively for the greatest good of all concerned.

Key word for attack line termination points and where opportunity in change is calling:

Middle finger/Saturn: Security

Ring finger/Apollo: Rejection

Pinkie/Mercury: Trust issues

Pluto: Anger

Moon: Isolation

The Via Lascivia in the Hand

The Via Lascivia – Pathways of Exploration, Excitement and Escapism

by Kay Packard

When the Mercury Line falls toward the outer edge of the hand (see blue arrows in Fig. 1 and 2 below), creating an arc into the Moon zone, you’ll find that curiosity, wonderment and exploration for stimulation are an essential component in the owner’s life. This configuration is called the Via Lascivia.

About forty-percent of the hands I see have this pattern in one or both hands. Famous hand analyst William Benham, author of The Laws of Scientific Hand-Reading printed in 1900 and revised in 1946 said it [Via Lascivia] was seldom seen. Life styles have certainly changed in the past 100 years therefore, this is why I believe it is more frequently visible.

The look of the line can show up in a several different variations. Two examples are shown below.

Via Lascivia

According to Benham, the configuration seen more commonly was a vertical (not arcing) short sister line beside the Mercury Line, ending closer to the top of the Moon zone. Owners were found to have a “superabundance of vitality and good health, and would work off a good part of it in lascivious practices.” In other words the owners were witnessed to having healthy outlets for their lewd and erotic impulses.

The Standard Via Lascivia is the Mercury sister line that arcs around to the edge of the palm (see blue arrows in Fig. 1 and 2) and indicates curiosity that ‘falls’ into the lower world of the palm, specifically into the zone of imagination, dreams and core identity.

I wonder what the criteria were 116 years ago for defining lewd and erotic behaviors. I would imagine a typical Hollywood movie, a series on HBO or certain TV commercials would fall into this category, these days. Can you imagine how unacceptable it would be by society then to witness what we see today – at a touch of the screen?

Needless to say, the Via Lascivia is more commonly found in the palm today, because of the cultural acceptance of seeking wider and more interesting thoughts, activities and sensations. The basis of the configuration is still quite relevant with updated narratives.

I’ve seen the Via Lascivia in hands ranging from ages 7 to 70-years. As with all the markings in the hands, there are positive and negative possibilities. This applies to the Via Lascivia, too.

A 7-year old with a Via Lascivia, as an example, may be curious about new and unusual insects. He or she may collect spiders, dead or alive, and study them. The spiders symbolize a form of wonderment, excitement and escapism. The young one escapes into the unknown and unusual with a positive force for growth.

A 17-year old with the same line formation will most likely be found exploring his or her new life in unusual ways. Teens typically seek new pathways; some healthy and some unhealthy. He or she may dissect the frog in science class and continue the project at home with fish, rats or rabbits – all in the name of deep examination into the unfamiliar. When adding the need to belong to a group, the teen might find him or herself exploring pills, kissing and sex. Finding healthy outlets for the stimulated system is crucial to prevent allure turning into addiction and ending up on the wrong side of the law.

A 57-year old with a Via Lascivia would be wise to seek out the interesting by investigating new and thrilling things to do after retirement, otherwise she may fall prey to the rush of the unlawful like Thelma when she robbed the store while Louise waited in the car. (Watch Thelma rob the store in this short video clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JDyXQvCsOM).

Hanging with Hades in the underworld can become attractive. This place includes gangs (darker groups) and drugs. The underworld is a place where some people, at different phases in life, can become attached to these forms of escape. Isolation and invisibility can imprison the owner thus leading to loneliness and depression.

The marking in itself does not indicate addiction or depression. Like a flower, it must be appropriately watered to prevent it from wilting. So too, an individual must develop and maintain techniques to nurture his or herself to stay on the positive side.

Below are examples showing how the behaviors can show up in either the positive or negative form.

Via Lascivia positive and negative

Deeper personal characteristics are revealed when markings are blended together. For example a well-marked Via Lascivia on a hand with a full Venus Mount will belong to someone who is pleasure loving, with a highly charged libido, in pursuit of physical stimulation and perhaps regardless of the cost. An eye-catching Via Lascivia on a Air shaped hand, with a shoebox-effect, is likely to be found restless, obsessed and dedicated to collecting, dissecting and distributing information. I wouldn’t be surprised to find this combination in the hand of a scientist or philosopher.

Via Lascivia Key Words: Exploration, wonderment, curiosity, stimulation, excitement, thrill seeking, idealism, appetites, over-indulgence, temptations, escapism

Via Lascivia Positive: My stimulated imagination has freedom to explore and I consider the consequences in how far I soar.

Via Lascivia Negative: I refuse my Inner Voice and hear the call of my craving as I voyage into darker shadows of the underworld.

Line of Intuition

The shape of the Mercury Line reveals the nature of a person’s capacity and style for perceiving. Straight Mercury Lines belong to people who are curious and have keen insights. Curving Mercury Lines, as in Figure 1 below, belong to individuals who are in constant contact, consciously or unconsciously, with the celestial, attuned to messages from the Divine. Because this line bows around the Moon mound, you’ll find someone with a natural capacity for diving into crisis of meaning and somehow finding words to make sense of it. On their advanced path, they understand the meaning of life and construct careers as transformational coaches, life purpose consultants, spiritual advisors, life strategists, counselors and ministers.

The owner of a Mercury Line that arcs around the Moon is curious about and considers elements related to dreams, spirituality, the subliminal, unmet emotional needs, and the reality of beliefs. People with Mercury Lines resembling the Figure included in this article have most likely found themselves asking themselves, “What’s the point of living?” and/or “Why are we here?” during times of alienation, stagnation and feeling trapped in the illusion of separation from the self. While the potential of constant contact with the Divine is very high, equally and opposite is the possibility of not trusting what’s ‘coming in’ and remaining focused entirely on logic instead.

If you have this deeply curving Mercury Line, you most likely understand the feeling of disillusionment and disappointment with life. A sense of despair has led you to ask, “Why?” which is a crucial step toward listening inward for answers. As you stop struggling with the sense of desolation, let go of reason, and accept that you just don’t know why, you find that you surrender to higher intelligence, which then begins to operate through you. You can then allow and trust this special internal mechanism within you that is constantly attuned for deep inner awareness.

After teaching about of this type of Mercury Line in my certification program, one student with this configuration confirmed the description saying,

“I worked 14 years in a job where I had little to zero contact with other people. I worked on secret projects and could never talk about my work. I got sick a lot with migraine headaches, felt alone and numbed out. I finally quit that job because I realized life should not be just making money and paying bills. My heart was longing for freedom, freedom for creative expression. I craved deep, meaningful connections with people instead of just working on computers and projects in isolation.”

She has since developed her skills by becoming a Reiki Master /Healer, ThetaHealing® Practitioner, an influential speaker, and intuitive Scientific Hand Analyst and is now working as an inspirational counselor, interpreting the messages marked in the hands to the owners so that they can know why they are here and how to live with meaning in their lives.

After contemplating the interpretation of the Line of Intuition on her hand, another certified hand analyst told me:

“Yes, I do relate to the natural capacity for understanding the meaning in the life crisis -in my own and in other’s, and I have a near compulsion to explain it to a person who’s in the middle of a crisis. I can make sense of things (from an interior perspective), and when a person is asking for my input and is ready to receive it, I can help them make sense of their experiences. Explaining to someone who isn’t ready to hear it leaves me feeling unseen and misunderstood, and is probably boring or annoying for them. I find that my audience is not always interested, especially not at work so it is a challenge to moderate my natural intuitive communications to fit into the analytical workplace style. I’ve really developed a good practice and the experience to know and trust what’s coming in most of the time, and I can vouch for the experience of constant contact, anytime I put my attention on it, its there. But being immersed in the logic of my technology company workplace is like that unsettled, off balance feeling when you don’t trust your own gut. In the office there are lots of interruptions and I’m surrounded by people all the time. It’s a hectic place and instead of listening to and trusting my intuition, I’m usually just reacting to my environment. With the primary focus on logic for the job it’s hard to go deep and open up to listen and receive.”

Medical Intuitive Caroline Myss exemplifies what this marking is about as a translator of meaning through her lectures about the invisible energy system running through our bodies called the chakras. In her book Anatomy of the Spirit she interprets the symbols of the soul in easy to understand lessons. She has become very well known through helping people learn the language of the human energy system so that they can better understand themselves as a way through spiritual challenges. Her life revolves around deciphering meaning in everything around her. In her case she intuits illness as it relates to energetic power leaks within a person. Does she have this line on either of her hands, or both? I don’t know but I’d like to find out.

Intuition is a skill anyone can develop, and would benefit by doing so. If you don’t have this line in your hand it doesn’t mean that you’re not intuitive or cannot be intuitive. By having this Line of Clairvoyance there is a higher probability, on the path to mastery, that the challenges will be quite evident. What I mean by this is that reliance on logic and ignoring the hunches you’re getting will block development. I think of this simply as a road sign indicator letting you know you’re off track and ‘correction’ is needed. Will you trust what you are sensing from within?

Internal oppositions are normal. When they are recognized and brought together you’ll have the perfect ingredients for fuller expression of this gift of highly attuned perception.

Mantra: As I follow and trust myself through my own crisis of meaning I am able to skillfully support others through exploration of the deeper parts of themselves.

Fundamental Marketing Points for Your Heart-Centered Business

It’s no secret that I love certifying students in the art and science of hand analysis!

My sixth year teaching the hand analysis certification program is quickly coming to completion. By September 6th the world will have six new certified hand analysts reaching around the globe from Australia to Switzerland and Germany, and from sea to sea in the United States.

An applauded benefit for this year’s certification students was the 10 hours chock-full of business development and crucial marketing worksheets for immediate professional success.

One student said:

“What I found most beneficial was that doing the exercises “forced” me to really clarify the traits that I bring into the business and what my values are and how I would like them to show up in my marketing materials.  Before, I had some general and vague ideas but the class exercises really got me to organize my thinking.” – Marcella Theeman, 2016 Certified Hand Analyst

Inspiring people to use the personalized road map inscribed in their hands to live a purposeful life is truly gratifying. It’s even better the longer we maintain stamina, commitment and enthusiasm. However, burn out is practically guaranteed without proven strategies to market our businesses as effectively as possible.

I created the Marketing and Business Breakthrough training module through years of growth, observation, lessons learned and with the help of my marketing coach. It’s a fact – marketing and business strategies are crucial to finding lasting joy in operating a heart-centered business.

I want to make it as quick and simple as possible for you while staying aligned with your authentic self!

YOUR business and YOUR marketing will not be effective if it’s based on any cookie cutter formula.

Fundamental marketing mastery must be based on YOUR…

– Special interest and focus on what matters most
– Personal values (as Marcella said)
– Vision and what you stand for no matter what
– Signature and influencing branding archetypes
– Unique gifts and talents
– Ideal clients and how you can best serve them

This topic can be overwhelming for anyone especially highly creative healers so I bring forward proven strategies step-by-step so that you can immediately apply them as you grow your business.

Wherever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision,” said Peter Drucker.

This Level 3 Certification Program aims for excellence.  We’ll cover nearly 200 different markings in the hands so you are guaranteed to increase your database and skillfully apply what you learn each week. Additional bonus markings always find a way of sneaking into our live lessons, too.

While seats last, students already certified in hand analysis by any qualified teacher are welcome to apply as a refresher and to stay tuned in each week at 1/3 tuition. International students are welcome with two options for joining LIVE depending on your time zone.

If you want to know more please join me for either a 60 minute group information webinar on Wednesday, August 31st from 4:00 – 5:00pmPT or a 15 minute private discovery session.

Mantra for a Weak Life Line

Have you looked at your own or other people’s Life Lines to see what condition they are in? Maybe you have seen one or two broken or weaken Life Lines along with a few strong and robust ones, too.

It’s important to understand that every marking in the hand can have a positive and a negative possibility in it’s interpretation. Our minds do the same thing. We can think in a positive or negative way. It’s all about perspective.

All negative possibilities offer shadow wisdom. Shadows are created by light. We grow stronger as we open to our weaknesses and shine the light of awareness on them. If you decide to, you can learn to use your weaknesses, bring them to the light, and bloom into your most amazing life.

In my book, Your Life Is In Your Hands, you’ll find a “mantra” associated with most of the markings described in the book. I use the word “mantra” to imply the integration of the positive and negative interpretations of these markings into powerful affirmations. These mantras are designed and intended to uplift you into realizing your highest potential.

Weak (short, frayed, scattered, or broken) Life Lines Key Words: Restlessness, up rootedness, insistence, burnout

Weak Life Line Positive: I’m on heightened alert, attentive to getting many things accomplished, with opportunities to renew and rebuild

Weak Life Line Negative: I’m susceptible to burn out when I do too much (too much is defined by you, not the world); feeling out of balance and depleted.

Mantra: With ease, I equalize work, play and rest. I breathe in the nature of life.

You may want to write this mantra on a sticky-note and post it where you’ll see it frequently. It could transform your world!

What Broken Life Lines Represent

A broken Life Line can indicate a very difficult circumstance usually involving a serious physical situation. Examples clients have told me about include an injury such as a head trauma, a life-changing event such as divorce, moving to another state, unexpectedly changing colleges, abruptly ending a sports career because of knee surgery, or death in the family. Events associated with a broken Life Line can be seen in a positive or negative way, but either way a broken Life Line probably represents a needed wake-up call. For example, one woman with a break in her Life Line had very destructive behaviors, such that her husband divorced her and took custody of their children. She saw the separation in a negative way, but the divorce helped her to realize that she would benefit by making positive changes for healthier behaviors. This woman suffered the physical change of the unwanted divorce at the age of the break on her Life Line.

In my observations and in the life histories of my clients, issues of physical security correlate to Life Lines at the approximate ages shown in the Figure below.

Life Line Time Line AAHA

Approximate time line on the Life Line (above)

Important note: The hand analysis I practice is not predictive. If you see a broken Life Line do not assume any of the above examples my clients have told me about will actually occur in someone else’s life in the future based on this approximate time line. Why? Because a break will represent something different in every person’s life, and life circumstances and lines in the hand can change. Making a prediction about the future is simply inappropriate.  It is said, ‘Only Heaven knows.”

Figure below shows the hand of a man who told me of a life-threatening event that occurred to him when he was a child. Notice the break in his Life Line between the age of five and ten.

Broken Life Line AAHA

At age 6 he was thrown into a river along with his brother who was 8. At 6 he was terrified as he was thrashed along the current until he reached the edge of the river. He hid under the brush to hide from the older brothers who had chucked him into the river because they were watching for him along the riverbank.

Today this man is a great swimmer. In his adult life he has played key roles in planning for and monitoring the safety of people at large events, as well as providing security for his own children. His broken Life Line, even between age 5-10 on the time line, reveals his continual need for safety and security.

A short or weak Life Line represents a shorter than average anchor line to the earth. When the tether to the earth is weak, there is an inclination to “hover above” the world, or to feel lost at sea. Oftentimes there was a requirement early in life to take on so much responsibility that time for play had to be sacrificed. One client with a short Life Line told me how survival issues show up for him.

He explained, “Before I know it, I’m rationalizing starting the day earlier and earlier and ending later and later. I’m working fourteen-hour days as an average. There is a constant and never-ending continuation of tasks leading to my insanity.”

When I asked what has helped him, he said, “I’ve learned to see my big jobs as smaller jobs. I break large chunks of responsibility and work into smaller chunks. I can breathe easier as I settle down with bite-sized jobs.”

Breaking tasks into manageable portions is a healthy strategy for addressing the overwhelming frenzy that can gradually consume a person with a short or broken Life Line. If you have this type of Life Line remember to b r e a t h e. In this spirit, my friend William Sullivan wisely said, “when looking at building many a mile of fence, it’s best to take it one post at a time.”

Watch for my next article with key words, weak Life Line in the positive and negative, and a mantra to inspire internal balance.

Facts about the Life Line

Something that often comes up during a hand reading or when I’m leading a workshop is the subject of the Life Line. The Life Line is one of the most misunderstood lines in the hands. It’s also one of the most important lines to understand to help handle the endless demands on ones vitality system.

The LIFE LINE is a major line that is carved on the inside of the hand around the Venus Mount at the base of the Thumb. The arrows are pointing to the Life Line in the hand print below.

Life Line

The length, shape, and quality of the Life Line are associated with the state of the physical body, and with awareness of and attention to the physical world. Let me put one myth to rest: the length of the Life Line does not predict the length of one’s life. It does, however, show concerns about protection and preservation of the body. The Life Line is also called the Line of Earth. It is considered the line of family and tribe because we build our physical constitutions within our tribes. As humans, we look to our communities for support and safety. If we feel safe in our clans, our core energy systems are more likely to be in balance.

The Life Line can be read for personal vitality, productivity, stability and energy management, physical strength and stamina, and relationship to the sense of physical safety. Someone with a long, clear, and deep Life Line is down to earth, with a strong sense of security and stamina for living. Conversely, someone with a short or weak Life Line will feel constantly restless, a bit edgy, and will have a tendency to “fly.” Such a person may be living on the surface of life, staying busy but not really “digging in.”

The Figure below shows proof that the length of the Life Line does not indicate the length of life. This client died around age fifty-five. Her Life Line was long, well carved, and without damage or weakness of any kind, and the round curvature of the line shows robustness. When I printed her hands in 2005 she was healthy, active, enthusiastic, fully engaged with life, and quite bubbly. Later that year she entered the hospital for stomach pains. She was kept in the hospital for further testing and was soon diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in her stomach. She died within two weeks.

Short, Weak, or Broken Life Line

If your Life Line is short, delicate, or scattered, you have difficulty resting. Your personal anchor and grounding system has been compromised. Because you’re accustomed to living in a routine of “flight,” you may not recognize these patterns as you read about them for the first time. For example, your work or family life may involve your driving from one place to another and another. You might feel as though you’re constantly scrambling to get your life in order. You may think, “There’s not enough time to get it all done!” Core survival issues, such as paying the rent, keeping your job, and having enough food, remain strong considerations in your life and family. At worst, a sense of support from family is severely lacking, which creates a lack of trust in the tribal system. If your tribal system is at risk, you are more likely to doubt your role and value in society, asking, “Do I belong here?” Doubt of one’s role in the community can cause anxiety and internal tension that, in turn, produce a strong urge to create safety for oneself and others. When this is recognized and more clearly understood, one can begin to implement change, increasing stability instead of insecurity.

Weak Life Line

Scattered Life Line = reluctant to rest (above)

If you have this type of Life Line, create and implement a plan for poise, routine, and balance on a regular basis. As you walk imagine your feet growing roots into the earth. Lay on a big river rock. Block out time on your calendar to rest and renew. Schedule time to ride your horse – once a month or more. Be firm on your boundaries at work to say “yes” or “no” to overtime based on the needs of YOUR vitality system. Listen to your body!

Watch for my next post showing the time line on the Life Line and how breaks in the line can indicate impact and disruption in the physical system.

Our Visit to the Taj Mahal

One highlight of our trip to India was certainly the visit to the Taj Mahal. The (love) story behind it’s construction, the details in the carvings inset into the enormous structure, the types of colorful cut stones used throughout, and it’s extensive garden location on the Yamuna River are all part of the captivating experience. Below you’ll find a few photos taken during our visit in February 2016.

Getting from the taxi parking area to the Taj Mahal, in itself was a fascinating adventure because we road on a covered cart led by a camel. Sam and Kyle are sitting inside of the cart (below).

Camel Cart Ride to the Taj

Some how, a guide latched on to us, along with a photographer in the parking area and road with us on the camel cart. They both spoke English and were genuine in their connection with us, especially when Raymond needed to run back to the car to reclaim his wallet. I had opportunity to read the hands of our guide, the photographer and our camel cart driver. All were inspired with my interpretations of the line configurations in their Eastern hands.

I brought a copy of my book, intending to have a photo taken with me holding the book in the garden in front of the epic building.

Hand Reading Photographer at Taj

Kay reading Taj guides hands

Our guide handled the purchasing of our tickets into the property as well as hustling us through security. One glitch getting through security – snacks and my book! The snacks and my book were stuffed into and zipped up inside my purse. Both were promptly confiscated by security after the ex-ray machine revealed their identity. Our guide new how important it was to me to take my book inside. He told me to keep quite. He spoke in Hindi, making a hard negotiation for me to retain my book. Next thing I knew, after a 3rd security person had been engaged, our guide pushed the book back into my hands, told me to stuff it back in my purse and zip it up. “If you can get that purse zipped up, right now, you can keep your book with you throughout the tour.” He whispered, “They don’t want people to use the Taj as a promotional tool; taking photos with books or other articles. They are very strict about this rule.”

Okay, now that my book was smuggled inside the property, I schemed how to get the illegal photo taken. At just the right time, about 30 minutes into the tour, we looked around and observed that we were just far enough away from the security guards scattered throughout the grounds. Our guide said, “Now is the time, hurry!” I knew that meant, take your book out, lets get the photo, and return the book into your purse and keep it out of sight from then on!”

Mission accomplished! Here is the result of that instruction (photo below).

Your Life is in Your Hands at Taj Mahal India

Below are a few more photos taken during our tour of the Taj Mahal.

Inside entry to Taj

I am in the several hundred-year-old Mosque below, neighboring the Taj Mahal, that is still attended every Sunday.

Kay inside the Mosque looking out

Inside the Mosque there is room for nine (9) women to pray on Sundays. We were there on a Monday otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have been permitted in. I took a moment to bow in prayer (above) and was immediately absorbed into an indescribable presence. The moment will be unforgettable.

The Vocational Experiement

Today it was reported in the Huffington Post that the Periodic Table has four brand new elements. One of the discovering team leaders reported that the recognition of one of the elements took “nearly a decade of painstaking work.” To scientists these discoveries are “of greater value than winning an Olympic gold medal.” Discovering the new elements happened when smashing lighter nuclei together and witnessing the result (“analyzing the radioactive decay which existed for a tiny fraction of a second afterwards”).

Kosuke Morita, the leader of the Riken team, smiles as he points to a board displaying the new atomic element 113.  Photo credit KAZUHIRO NOGI/AFP/Getty Images)

Being a bit of a scientific geek myself, I’m wildly fascinated with this discovery – where it will lead, the resulting inventions, and the textbooks that are now out of date. I’m also deeply curious as to what drives these team members to dedicate their time, exhaustless-energy and passion to identifying an unrecognizable (to the human eye) element? Perhaps individual’s motivations are for prestige, being part of something immensely historical, working with really smart people, or simply it’s just a job.

My main interest lies in the discovery of the underlying drive toward ideal vocation. Spending days in the ideal vocation implies entertaining a certain consciousness. I liken consciousness to a life-movie playing day-in and day-out. It’s your movie of life – call it what you will. Have you given your life-movie a title? If you did, what would it be?

My aim is to assist people in discovering and living on their natural path where effort is unnecessary. There is a deep sense of well-being and tranquil silence when you find your right work. Your right work is true service – selfless service. True service doesn’t depend on conditional results such as a specific outcome that includes a thank you or a paycheck. True service doesn’t depend on having adequate equipment to get the job done or having a certain level of intelligence. True service happens when the human will and one’s true love combine as in “smashing together lighter nuclei?”

Think of a time when you were in your element, as you were doing a task, a job or a project. This was a space you came into where there was no time and no thought. You were in the flow. Now inquire, who were you in that space and [no] time?

For me when I experience that flow of the natural path I feel a sense of perfect peace. Does this mean I’m not doing anything? Yes and no. I am still moving and taking action, yes. And I also inquire into “who” is doing the doing?

In a conversation with my friend, Anne she reminded me that when we define aspects of the “flow” then it loses part of it’s essence. There is an indescribable force, energy, awareness that is dimensionless, that is tuned into when the human will and the silence of the heart merge together. My not doing occurs as the integration of will + heart happens.

The team of scientists who discovered the four new elements may have come together in perfect peace as they merged their human will with their true love. Perhaps this is where science and spirituality unite.

Five Additional Variables for Vocational Hand Analysis – Part III

Five additional variables to look for in the hands when doing a vocational analysis are:

1. The Finger Zones are essential features because the size, length, width and girth give a striking clue as to additional emphasis regarding the owner’s ideal niche. Typically, one of the 12 finger zones, or sections, is most eye-catching. The most noticeable finger section directs me to inquire with the owner about his or her skill or desire in the related area. Below are high-level descriptions related to each of the finger zones.

Index/Jupiter Middle/Saturn Ring/Apollo Pinkie/Mercury
Upper Zone Visionary Wisdom Studies Mental arts Brainstorming
Middle Zone Ambition Security Design Negotiations
Lower Zone Territory Foundations Display Sex energy

As you know, desires are not always pursued for a variety of reasons. And skills are not always developed. However, the most-visible zone must be considered if the owner wishes to find fulfillment.

2.  Thumbs are one of the most important considerations when determining if working for others or the self would be favorable. As an example, Oprah’s thumbs span widely from her palm. This large area between her hand and the tip of her thumb shows desire for a wide range of influence. The wider the angle between hand and thumb tip, the bigger the territory the owner must have to manage. Likewise, the closer the thumb rests to the hand, the less responsibilities he or she wishes to administer. He or she would do better, and most likely prefer, to be employed for someone else, leaving work at the same time each day.

3.  The length and quality of the Fate Line (vertical line climbing from the bottom of the hand up toward the middle finger) reveals drive toward values, which in turn equate to money. A long, noticeable vertical line rising toward the middle finger shows a person with their foot on the gas and hands on the steering wheel with a clear plan, direction and determination.

4.  The Life Line shows the level of vitality available to the owner. Deep, long and curving Life Lines indicate stamina, recuperation skills and physical balance. Life Lines that are short or frayed show a scattering of energy; the anchor typically keeping a buoyant ship in place is untethered.

5.  A variety of other markings in the hands would also be considered. There are too many to mention here.

Keep in mind, no one indicator in the hand will uncover the vocational solution. The ingredients must be artistically combined to expose the inner masterpiece waiting to shine.

To summarize, the first component in the hand to assess for vocational selection is the hand. So far we considered the following variables (shape, lines and markings):

– Hand Shape archetype

– Dominant finger

– Strongest Mount

– Heart Lines

– Gift Markings

– Finger Zones

– Thumbs

– Fate Lines

– Life Lines

– Other Markings

In Part IV we’ll consider the soul’s curriculum encoded in the fingerprints
